Abstract

The title of this research is Inkorporasi Verba dalam Bahasa Bali. In this research, I discuss verb incorporation found in Balinese language. The aims of this research are to find out the types of verb incorporation, the morphological process of verb incorporation, and the grammatical function of verb incorporation found in Balinese language. The data used are the Balinese storybook entitled Tutur Bali created by I Wayan Westa. All the data were analyzed based on Government and Binding theory by Chomsky (1982), movement theory by Lieber (1992), and incorporation theory by Fillmore (1988). Based on the analysis done, there are four kinds of verb incorporation found. Those four kinds of verb incorporation are object incorporation, instrumental incorporation, location incorporation, and situation incorporation. The morphological processes found are prefixiation, suffixiation, and multiple affixiation. The grammatical function change found are the grammatical function of object changes into verb, the grammatical function of adverbial changes into verb, and the grammatical function of complement changes into verb
