Abstract

Sukawana village is one of the ancient villages located around the mountains in central Bali, including the District of Kintamani Bangli Regency, Bali. In line with the modernization, the issue is whether it has the unique values ​​that can be maintained and developed to accommodate the present? Related to research methods, research paradigm used is phenomenology. The research process consists of three stages. Results obtained in the form of the local theory of traditional values ​​Sukawana village home stay longer then a dialogue with residence in the garden (garden house) village Sukawana and relevant theory. Concept of conservation outcomes Sukawana rural settlement divided into two physical concepts and non-physical concepts. Physical concept that changes in the use of roofing materials, wall construction, and the establishment of the phenomenon of house building live in the middle of the plantation and modern as permanent residences in the city that do not tend to use patterns in the village hall as the parent. Essence mandala under one roof still remains but has been adapted to current conditions. Factors that cause a change in the mindset and behavior changes that lead to modern life. Non-physical concepts include aspects of spiritual beliefs and cultural activities together or social activities. Their belief that living symbolized by the tree of life on Sanggah Pakurenan, while the dead symbolized with building materials or trees that have been felled on Sanggah Paibon.
