Abstract
The title of this paper is “Metaphors Found in The Novel of “Remember Me”. The data in this paper are taken from the novel entitled “Remember Me” by William Fetters. This paper is discussing about the types of metaphor found in the novel and also their literal and connotative meaning. The theories applied to support the paper are Metaphor We Live By written by Lakoff and Johnsen (2003). Based on the result of the analysis, it is found that there are five types of metaphors found in novel “Remember Me”, they are dead metaphor, live metaphor, orientational metaphor, ontological metaphor, and structural metaphor. Furthermore, metaphors not only have a literal meaning but it also conveyed much wider meaning than that, which is connotative meaning. We have to pay attention a little deeper, in order to understand the meaning of it. When we only translate it literally, it may cause misinterpretation.
