Abstract

The title of this research is the conversation analysis on public service advertisement Local Public Broadcasting Institutions Denpasar Public Radio. The public service announcement discourse is an interesting study object to be discussed because it involves the language elements in it. Especially on the media Radio the role of language is very important, because the adverisment can only be heard, so it takes an interesting and communicative language to attract the attention of consumers. The purpose of this research is generally to improve linguistic knowledge in the use of advertising language as well as specifically aimed to analyzing the structure of conversation, the type of speech acts and the maxim of conversation contained in public service advertisment that are displayed by Local Public Broadcasting Institutions of Denpasar Public Radio. Data in the form of conversations in ten public service spots advertisment are collected using field research and observation methods, then using data recording techniques recorded using a tape recorder, and to facilitate research by record technique, the recording data is then recorded on the data card. Furthermore data are analyzed using qualitative methods, and by using inductive techniques. The data has been collected and classified according to the categorization then analyzed according to the problem by using the theory that has been determined then findings about the structure of conversation, the type of speech acts and the conversation maximum which is contained in the Spot ILM on Local Public Broadcasting Institutions of Denpasar Public Radio. Furthermore, the data analysis results are presented informally and formally. Based on the results of the analysis, there are three findings in the analysis that is, (1) Total public service advertisement spots (ten ILM) fulfill three model of conversation structure that is turn talking, adjaceny pair and overall organization model. (2) Based on the psychological/psychological state of the speaker and the opponent of speech, positive speech acts are found on the nine ILM, whereas the type of negative speech act is found in only four ILMs. (3) In order to run communication smoothly there are four maxims to be obeyed, the maximal quality found in the ten existing ILMs, the maxim of quantity only in the nine ILM, the maxim of relevance in the ten ILM as well as the maxim of manner is also found in the ten ILMs. Other important findings are: (4) In order to make the message well conveyed, in the conversation identified the use of turn talking, adjacency pair and overall organization conversational structure model, using positive speech acts and maxim of quality, quantity, relevance and manner. (5) It is also found that the maxim of manner plays a very important role in the delivery of messages in the conversation. (6) From the three subjects, there is a correlation of the three discussions in which (a) the turn talking model requires positive speech acts in maxim of quality and maxim of relevance, (b) the adjacency pair model require the type of positive speech acts that always correlate with maxim of quantity, (c) model of the overall organization requires positive speech acts, in maxim of manner conversations, (d) the type of negative speech acts in in his speech can use the model of turn talking, adjacency pair and overall organization, and can be correlated with maxim of manner.
